Inside the refit of M/Y Kijo

2023

Kijo was delivered by Heesen in 2003, and her refit with WOSA was both an engineering and an aesthetic project, built around the renewal of her propulsion and combined with class-related technical work, safety equipment and exterior restoration.

The main engines were replaced and commissioned, with WOSA coordinating the specialists involved, the installation interfaces and the final operational testing. The gearbox overhaul included inspection, reassembly and verification of correct operation, and the shaft line was inspected and serviced, with its condition and tolerances checked.

The stabiliser system was maintained along with its mechanical and hydraulic interfaces, and the pumps and watermaker were serviced, with fault finding and the replacement of worn parts. Fresh-water tank works were carried out, and work was done on the bilge suction piping where inspection findings required it.

For class compliance, the electrical systems were upgraded and the safety equipment serviced, through to the associated technical close-out. Outside, the hull and transom were repaired, and the affected areas were prepared and repainted.
